With this combination we aim for healthy, medium-sized dogs with good conformation for working and endurance, well in breed standard. We aim for lots of speed and stable, high drive/will to find; high passion and natural ability in water, field and tracking; natural and passionate retrieving ability; lots of passion for predators and other game - in other words, high drive versatile hunting dogs that can be used in all aspects of versatile hunting (including driven), that have above average speed and range on field with excellent bird handling skills. We aim for durable, strong and stable mentality paired with outstanding will to please/trainability. We aim for socially (people and dogs) open, stable and easy dogs, who are calm at home and good family members.
Both parents of this combination are versatile hunting dogs used a lot on all game, incliding driven hunts on large game and predators. Both are socially very stable and smart, and excellent, relaxed family dogs that are also good with children. Both get along with dogs they do not know.
Buddy is a powerful, medium-sized, beautiful longhair male from Germany. He is a very friendly, socially open and uncomplicated dog, that knows to hunt nearly every kind of game. He is mostly used on "battue" (driven hunts), mostly in the woods and on the hills, but has also field-hunted, including pointing pheasants. In the hunting season he goes to battue all over Germany. In Buddy's owner's words: "he hunts wide in the field, perhaps not so close like some hunters would like to".
Buddy hunts wild boar with head and mind, and his favourite game are predators - foxes, raccoons, marten etc, but generally speaking he is not a sharp dog.
Buddy is a good swimmer, passionate about water, and nutrias belong also to his favorites. Passionate worker also on land, who only stops when he has found the game.
When the wind is good, he will find the roe deer or wild boar, where other dogs passed before without noticing the game. Buddy has been specially noted on his really exceptional nose, and one of experienced trainers and short-hair weimaraner breeders has even speculated Buddy being the best longhair in Germany at the moment. Despite being a passionate hunter, Buddy is cooperative and very easy to handle.
About Buddy's character, his owner says: "No problems with other dogs or people. Until 2020 he went with me to office every day and everybody could come in, also when I was out. At home he is observing but not aggressive".
Buddy’s reaction at the character test was not trained. His owner says: "When I leave an item of mine and lay Buddy down, he does nothing, just like in the video. When I lay him down and say „watch out“, he would defend the item. He is confident".
Buddy's test scores are convincing: judges awarded 11 points on nose and search at his VJP, as well as on search, passion and cooperation at his HZP!
Buddy’s sister Birka has a Derby I prize, sire and dam - Bertram and Xylona were very good hunters, grand-dam Dolly was a “serious sharp hunting dog till high age”.
Tsumi is a happy, high drive dog with good will to please. She is socially easy and safe, extremely smart dog with good nerves. Tsumi has high natural ability in everything, with extra style on point and above average bird handling skills. More of her on her own pages, under "The Dogs"!
Tsumi’s mom Säde is the only weimaraner so far, to hold both Swedish and Finnish Field Trial Champion titles (in Finland, weimaraners are measured up agains german pointers), Tsumi’s talented dad Hunor is a full brother to NFC/NAFC/FC/AFC Southpaw's Ottercreek Bailee Belle, who won both the Amateur and open stakes in the WCA's national championship in 2016, only one of a few dogs to do so the same year. Tsumi’s pedigree is full of field champions on both sides. Like the very famous americans Windancers Jota V. Reiteralm, Gould's Jus Git R Done v Zdon or Westend's Li'l Sage Rider on dad’s side, or on the dam’s side Classic Dream's Tic Tac Toe (our Tiki) and Wellieson Eazac that are among a handful of most remarkable nordic field champions, or Arto vom Nollenwald from Switzerland, that was also one hell of a remarkable and famous hunting/working dog (besides being an aid for the professional hunter’s daily life, he was also an internationally recognized catastrophy rescue dog, that was flewn around the world to help people).
